Heartfulness Short Film Contest 2023

The Heartfulness Short Film Contest aims to provide a platform for sharing diverse perspectives on universal peace and to promote the integration of these ideas to create a better world. This year the theme is “Universal Peace”, and the contest invites participants to share their thoughts on this topic through YouTube videos or YouTube shorts.

Heartfulness is an educational and volunteer-based non-profit organization, focused on meditation, relaxation, yoga and spirituality. It offers free meditation. To support and facilitate a scientific approach toward contemplative practices and advance our understanding of meditation and consciousness.

How to Submit

  • Subscribe to our channel on YouTube.
  • Upload your movie to your YouTube channel and add <#HeartfulnessSFC2023> to your movie description.
  • Comment on our competition video with link to your video.
  • Fill out the registration form to complete the submission process.

Terms and Conditions

  • The film should be centred around the theme of “Universal Peace”
  • The length of the film must be between 30 seconds and 5 minutes
  • The language of the film should be either English or any language with subtitles
  • The competition closes on 30th June 2023
  • Participation is free
  • Youtube does not sponsor this contest and we are solely responsible for delivering the prize to the winner

Panel of Judges

Alka Verma, an award-winning producer, launched 36 channels in 6 languages in India as a senior production coordinator at Walt Disney Singapore. She made history as the D Company Manager for “The Lion King” at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore’s first and longest-running Broadway show. Alka has worked with Discovery Asia and ESPN Sport-Star, and her short films, “Flyer” and “Regrets,” have gained recognition at film festivals. Now a freelance producer, Alka excels in video and audio production.

Susie Penrice Tyrie is an experienced actor and theater director with a demonstrated history of working in the performing arts industry. She is skilled in Acting, Comedy, Shakespeare, and Performing Arts. She is graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now RCS) and proficient in Acting, Comedy, Shakespeare, and Performing Arts. She is a Former co-owner and founding ensemble member at Wag the Dog Theatre. She can also be seen performing Improv and Stand-up.

Gauri Gupta is Singapore’s renowned theatre artist, play writer, producer, and director. She pursued her passion for theatre after working in advertising and participating in charitable theatrical productions. Her plays address social and cultural issues, such as migrant workers and integration between “old Indians” and “new Indians.” Gauri is also a student of classical music. Along with plays, she has also dabbled in filmmaking.

Kino is a movement created as a means of providing both amateur and professional filmmakers with a place to create and screen their short-films. We are an oasis of creativity outside the industry constraints, our community is based on time sharing generosity. This is a bohemian way to do filmmaking, the short-films we are doing are low (zero) budget and there is no competition, no prize or no money involved. The Kino movement was founded in 1999 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada by Christian Laurence and friends. It has since spread worldwide, and is now composed of almost 100 physical cells over the world. Kino Red Dot was created in December 2015.
