Like many stories you may have come across, mine starts with an unresolved past issue. For me, it was the usual teenage angst and uncertainty. I didn’t know what I was doing; I felt lost in this world and, typically, looked for reassurance in other people and things. Frequently, when we play around we fail to understand that what we seek in our life often doesn’t have a form or substance, yet it has the power to overwhelm you completely. When we seek the truth we struggle to find meaning in our life; relationships become an effort and we struggle with love. Even praying seems insincere because we are pursuing our need to lose ourselves in the illusory material world we have created around us. And all this time, the truth we are striving for is residing deep within us.
That is the truth that Heartfulness has brought to me. I’ve struggled with everything you can think of – school, studies, relationships, family, personal vices, friends, boyfriends, work. I fell victim to this mental battle and went into depression until my father, one day, showed me a way to get myself out of the deep sinking hole of misery. He redirected my vision which was blurry and scary in the beginning, but I had to move on. In all honesty, if it were not for the misery and the pain of lying in that hospital bed and being saved from the moment of death, I may not even have tried to get up, get out and make peace with myself.
To you, I say, please don’t let yourself fall into this pit and instead, put one foot in front of the other and make the effort to find yourself. Live now, it is the present that requires your attention, not the past nor the future. What’s gone will not return and what has to come depends on how you live now. In the words of Benjamin Franklin, “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.” ACT NOW. Find yourself, love yourself and be your truest self. Heartfulness meditation is not any stereotypical meditation, it really is about knowing yourself and when you do, whatever you do, you are at your best. Take a moment and close your eyes, withdraw your senses, find your heart and melt completely in its presence, there you will find, the true meaning. The meaning of the beyond, the meaning of nothingness, the meaning of fullness, the meaning of LOVE.
