Human 2.0 Festival, a new wellness event, is bringing free yoga, meditation, tai chi, and qi gong classes to Henrico on Saturday.
“We wanted to have an event where people can come out for the day and learn a variety of different stress-relief methods that they can take home with them and practice,” volunteer Ishan Vyas said.
The festival hopes to teach people how to de-stress, lower blood pressure and meditate.
Many of the classes, such as yoga and tai chi, will be held outdoors in a wooded, tranquil setting at the Natural Path Meditation Center. Bring a mat if you want to participate.
Inside the center, doctors and professionals will be offering hands-on demonstrations with blood pressure checks and functional motor testing, as well as guided meditation.
Kids can get in on the action with a face-painting booth and kids’ yoga classes. There will also be a 7-foot-tall blank canvas where visitors can get creative with a paintbrush.
Food trucks, including Quick Curry and Boka Tako, will be at the festival.
The event is being organized by the Heartfulness Institute, which offers free meditation practices to the public, as well as Desert Canvas Appalachia, a group that hosts free yoga events around town, and other local wellness professionals.
“We called it ‘Human Fest 2.0’ because it’s like an evolution. We’re learning how to become happier and how to be a better version of ourselves,” Vyas said.
