For many years sport, in the broadest sense, sports have been used as a tool for development and peace, promoting tolerance and respect, and contributing to the empowerment of women, young people, people with disabilities, other marginalized groups and their and communities. Sport is recognized by the UN as a powerful enabler for the sustainable development goals, with a particular emphasis on good health and wellbeing, quality education, and reduced inequalities. Within the physical education and sport sectors, there is an unprecedented global movement towards inclusion, sustainable development and integrity, which is mapped in the Kazan Action Plan. In support of this global movement, Aisling has led the development of a suite of blended learning ‘train-the-trainer’ resources called iPEPAS that aim to enable sport and physical education training providers to align their programs with this global movement towards inclusion to mainstream diversity.
In this webinar, Aisling will share how qualities like empathy and compassion can not only be enablers of empowerment in the field of sports, but how they can contribute to a global awakening of new approach to human development. She would like to introduce us to the possibility of an entire generation of awakened youths that welcome diversity and embrace inclusion.
Speaker : Aisling Clardy is dedicated to creating a healthy world for all, in which the healthy choice is the easy choice. Aisling works at the UNESCO Chair as researcher in inclusive Physical Education, Sport, Recreation and Fitness which has a global remit and social justice mission to fulfill human rights, while contributing to global health and wellbeing, through inclusive physical education and physical activity. Aisling plays a key resources development role at the UNESCO Chair, combining her educational and professional background in a multidimensional approach to health and wellbeing with heart-centered practices for inclusion.
Aisling was also fully engaged in her own spiritual path of awakening and enlightenment, and trained, and practices, as an Awakened Life teacher. Awakened Life is a social movement dedicated to elevating consciousness and empowering people to change their lives and the lives around them. Through her own awakening, Aisling realized the need to merge all of this work and incorporate a more heartful foundation into her work at the UNESCO Chair. This led to the incorporation of values and attributes like empathy, compassion and authenticity into the blended learning resource iPEPAS.com, all with the goal of facilitating deeply rooted inclusion in and for sport and physical education training.
