Overview:
Web3 is the next major evolution for the internet – it’s the internet of value; an internet in which the user moves from consumer to creator, from customer to owner. The internet has come a long way since its inception, thanks to the internet and its rapid development. With the rise of the internet and its many implications for almost every aspect of our lives, there is a lot of talk about what will happen as we move further into this digital age. And with so much chatter, it can be hard to know who to believe and what the future holds. The infrastructure is powered by blockchain technology and it will also allow for a new world wide web where we can share and trade anything: knowledge, creativity, property rights, access to services and financial assets such as stocks and bonds. It holds the promise to be more inclusive than it ever has been. However, Web3 is currently lacking in representation of women which means these voices are missing from the conversation. As more and more people are utilizing blockchain, the need for female representation in this field is more important than ever–yet, women are still underrepresented in the blockchain. If we want Web3 to be successful, we need to make it inclusive for everyone.
In this talk, Yip will provide a brief introduction to the world of the internet of tomorrow and share a few initiatives she has created to encourage more women to participate in Web3. She also shares her spiritual practice of meditation which she builds into the curriculum of her educational programs.
Speaker Bio:
Thy-Diep (“Yip”) Ta is the co-founder at Unit Network, a blockchain project that provides the infrastructure for the token economy of the future. She is a design expert for blockchain education and mindfulness training and invests in companies that work at the frontiers of technology to advance the United Nations SDGs. She is also a co-founder at Balanced Being, an international cooperative that provides training and a platform for humans to bring balance into their everyday lives. Previously, she worked at McKinsey & Co in the Financial Services industry, and at Rocket Internet. She holds an MBA from INSEAD business school and is advisor at Antler, Techstars, Plug&Play, Launchpool.xyz. She loves to write poetry and is the author of the book “Beautiful Brains Change tomorrow… today” as a mindfulness manifesto and guide into entrepreneurship.
