“Yoga for Unity and Well-being” is an initiative of leading Yoga Institutions and schools who have come together to present the best that Yoga has to offer, with a message of unity and harmony.
This program is being organized under the auspices of Ministry of AYUSH, Govt of India and in collaboration with United Nations Information Center and the Association of Indian Universities and over 40 key leading yoga institutions worldwide. This 100-day program was inaugurated by the Hon’ President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind and extended till the 21st of June 2021 – the International Day of Yoga.

Week 12 – May 31 to June 6

Welcome to this new week in the Yoga for Unity and well-being program where we will highlight health and wellbeing. There are a few health issues that Yoga tackles very well with a lot of research on the subject. These disorders are part of what we call ‘Lifestyle Diseases’; they have taken the lead in terms of mortality and morbidity all over the world since the 1990s. It so happens that these are also aggravating factors in case you contract Covid. We are speaking about hypertension, obesity and diabetes. This will be the topic of week 12. Join us on Wednesday at 5pm to listen to Smt. Rajvi Metha, a direct disciple of the great Acharya BKS Iyengar, who will share the Life and Teachings of BKS Iyengar. On Saturday, another Yoga expert, Dr. Sat Bir Singh Khalsa, researcher from the US, helps us to understand sleep and the circadian patterns.
