Burnout is a state of emotional or mental exhaustion combined with doubts about one’s competence and the value of work coupled with a feeling of lack of personal accomplishment. Burnout can take a serious toll on health, performance, career prospects, psychological well-being, and relationships. How to lead a life that helps us live well and prevent deleterious consequences of stress and burnout? Does meditation practice help? Does science support these practices? In this webinar, we will discuss the practical benefits of meditation.

Dr. Jayaram Thimmapuram is an Academic Hospitalist at WellSpan York Hospital where he primarily focuses on educating and mentoring Internal Medicine Residents. He has a special interest in research, and has articles published in reputed medical journals. He is a recipient of “Resident of the Year” and “Outstanding Teacher of the Year” awards. Most recently, Dr. Thimmapuram has completed a research project on Heartfulness meditation and its effect in lowering stress levels, burnout and its impact on telomere length and published the results of the study. He also studied the effects of Heartfulness meditation on chronic insomnia. He actively practices Heartfulness meditation and offers meditation training.
